Pietro Picone was born in Palermo (Sicily) in 1973. 

In June1999 he made His debut  in the role of “Nemorino” in L’Elisir d’Amore(G.Donizetti) at the A.Bonci Theater in Cesena. In September 1999 he took the role of “Il Conte d’Almaviva” in Il Barbiere di Siviglia (G.Paisiello) at  the Comunale theatre of Bologna.  In October 2000 he won the prize for “Best Male Voice” at the 41st Città di Parma  International Young Lyric Singer Competition. He also won the 7th  International Scholarship, “Domenico Alaleona”, carried out in Fermo(Macerata).

In September 2001 he made his debut  in the role of “Ermanno” in L’Equivoco Stravagante (Rossini)at the Theater Comuanle in Bologna.

He studied with M° Gianni Raimondi and He has attended the Musical Academy of Portogruaro. He has performed in various concerts in Prague, Vienna, Munich ,Lugano,Tallinn as well as his native Italy. He has attended the masterclass with the soprano Montserrat Caballe in Zaragoza.

He has performed at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna,Teatro San Carlo Napoli,Teatro Carlo Felice Genova,Teatro Municipale Piacenza,Teatro Massimo Palermo,Teatro dell’Opera Roma,Caracalla Opera Festival(Roma),Teatro Regio Parma, Royal Opera House of Muscat(Oman),Royal Opera de Wallonie (Liege).

He has worked with respected conductors as Maestro Campanella,Renzetti,Bartoletti,Palumbo,Benini,Steinberg,Ranzani,

Arrivabeni,Morandi,Perez.

In August 2011 He made his debut in the role of “Don Jose” in Carmen(G. Bizet) La Tragedie de Carmen at the Teatro Comunale of Bologna. He made His debut in  the role of F.B. Pinkerton with Devon Opera in U.K. and also in a  Friuli Festival in  north of Italy. He also sung the role of “Pang” in the G.Puccini opera Turandot. He also sung extracts of the role of Tristan in R.Wagner opera Tristan und Isolde at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. He sung the role of Leicester in Donizetti opera Maria Stuarda at the Opera de Liège. He sung the role of Duca di Mantova in G. Verdi opera Rigoletto at the Teatro Masini in Faenza.

 Next engagements are at Teatro dell’Opera in Rome Rigoletto and Werther.

In May 2015 Fidelio at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino conduct by M° Zubin Mehta.

In October 2015 Rigoletto at Festival Verdi of Busseto (Parma) the role of Duca di Mantova.
